No round-up yesterday, sorry. No real major news unfortunately. Any minor things that occurred yesterday will be included in this.
Final Fantasy XVI Development Is Going Well
Producer of Final Fantasy XVI, Naoki Yoshida, gave fans a welcome surprise by providing an update on the status of the game. A warm thanks goes to aitaikimochi on Twitter, who translated Yoshida’s information about the game from his recent “Letter from the Produce Live” for Final Fantasy XIV.
Yoshida detailed that the game has been planned out from start to finish, and has stated that the English vocal recording of the game is in the final stages as well.
With that in mind, it sounds like progress for Final Fantasy XVI is going well, and it might be reasonable to expect that the game will be released in 2022 as a result — in what is already becoming a stacked year for gaming as a whole.
However, when will we actually see Final Fantasy XVI?
Unfortunately, it won’t be at Tokyo Games Show this year, says Yoshida. The game was never planned to be shown at E3 either, apparently. The next most likely date for us to see the game would probably be Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards this December, especially if the game is likely coming in 2022.
Rapid-Fire Round-Up
- A Season 2 trailer for The Witcher is now available as part of WitcherCon. The new season will debut worldwide December 17th, 2021 on Netflix.
- CD Projekt Red also announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be getting it’s next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X soon. While no specific date was given, CD Projekt Red stated that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition for the PS5 and Series X will feature content from the Netflix series.
Rumor Mill
- Jez Corden of Windows Central stated in a recent livestream that Warner Bros. is indeed looking to sell off some of their studios. Most notably — Netherrealm (Mortal Kombat, Injustice) and Traveler’s Tales (LEGO series). Corden says he doesn’t know who could be buying them. It’s long been suggested that Microsoft should go after Netherrealm specifically, due to their need for a Fighting game on their platforms. We’ll have to wait and see, since both of these studios are being transferred to Discovery in the shifting around Warner Bros. is going through.
- There’s an odd listing on GameFly for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, with a release date of October 15th, 2021. This would presumably be a Nickelodeon fighting game crossover of some sort, but I suppose we’ll see if any rumors hold up.
- Oddworld: Soulstorm appears to have been rated on the ESRB for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It was later to be found on PEGI as well. It appears a release on Xbox platforms is imminent in the near future.
- I’ll just add here that there’s a rumor floating around about Bloodborne: Eternal Nocturne, but I’d rather not report it since it originates from 4Chan. The only rumors you’ll see in my re-caps are via insiders, notable sources, listings, and etc. I refuse to report on 4Chan rumors due to the nature of their website.
Today’s Releases
